Zion Kennels specializes in developing retrievers from the ground up — whether you're starting with an 8-week-old puppy or bringing in a young dog that needs structure and direction.
Eddie's training philosophy centers on building confidence and drive before adding pressure. Dogs leave Zion Kennels happy, eager, and reliable — not just obedient.
We work with Labrador Retrievers, Golden Retrievers, Chesapeake Bay Retrievers, and other retriever breeds. All training is done in person at our Ladonia, TX facility.
How It Works
Training Phases

Foundation
Building the basics — sit, stay, heel, and introduction to water and birds. Every great retriever starts here.

Force Fetch
Developing a reliable, consistent retrieve on command. This phase builds the drive and precision needed for advanced work.

Handling
Teaching the dog to take hand, whistle, and voice casts to unseen marks — the cornerstone of blind retrieve work.
04
Advanced Field Work
Multiple marks, blinds, water entries, and hunt test preparation. Dogs are polished for competition or the field.
