Training Programs

General Obedience Training

Building confident, well-mannered dogs through patient, consistent training — for all breeds and ages.

The Program

A Well-Mannered Dog
Starts Here

A well-trained dog is a happier dog — and a happier owner. At Zion Kennels, general obedience training is built on the same patient, consistent principles that have produced championship retrievers for over 30 years.

We work with dogs of all breeds and ages, from young puppies learning the basics to adult dogs that need structure and direction. Every program is tailored to your dog's individual temperament and your goals as an owner.

All training is done in person at our Ladonia, TX facility. We take bookings by appointment — call or stop by to discuss your dog's needs.

Our Philosophy

Confidence First,
Commands Second

Eddie's approach to obedience is the same one that has shaped championship retrievers for three decades: build the dog's confidence and trust before adding pressure or complexity.

Dogs trained at Zion Kennels don't just follow commands — they understand what's expected and want to comply. That's the difference between a dog that obeys out of fear and one that obeys because it's been built into who they are.

"I always recommend Eddie to my puppy buyers for training because I trust him."

Common Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

What age can my dog start obedience training?

We can begin foundation work with puppies as young as 8–10 weeks. The earlier you start, the easier it is to build good habits before bad ones form.

How long does a typical obedience program take?

Most dogs complete a solid foundation obedience program in 4–8 weeks, depending on the dog's age, temperament, and prior training history.

Do you offer owner handling lessons?

Yes. We strongly encourage owners to participate in at least a few sessions so you can maintain and build on what your dog has learned.

Can obedience training help with behavioral issues?

Obedience training builds structure and communication, which resolves many common behavioral issues. We'll discuss your dog's specific needs during your initial consultation.
